The Search functionality in nSide is one of the more powerful tools in the system. Any textual information that has been added or attached to a feature in the map can be discovered. Search also utilizes Google Maps API to search for place names and addresses on the map.
Search for an address:
Click in the Search box in the top right to enlarge.
Type the desired address, and the search engine will begin looking for a match.
Once the address is listed in the drop-down menu, click on the entry to zoom to the location.
Beyond searching for specific locations, Search is useful for finding features that have been placed on the map and have added descriptions and/or attachments. This approach to identifying features is particularly useful and efficient, especially if many features are present on the map. Having map data properly documented with adequate descriptions is recommended. If descriptions or attachments are not present within features, their likelihood of being found through search is lower.
Search for features:
Click in the Search box in the top right to enlarge.
Type in a description of a feature (e.g. main water shut-off) and the search engine will find features that are similar to the search term.
Click on the desired result from the list, and the map will zoom to the location.
